Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat is a leading independent day school of 785 pupils; 705 boys aged 11 – 18 and a further 80 girls in the co-educational sixth form. The School is located on a beautiful 46 acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading, on the banks of the River Thames.

To start in September 2021, this is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled engineering technician to join this superbly resourced department and support our teachers in delivering the Design Technology curriculum to pupils in all year groups, right up to A level.

You will be working in a new state-of-the-art Design Technology Centre, equipped with 3D printers; facilities to weld, braze and silver solder; a CNC lathe; laser cutter; CNC router; a virtual welder for training; vacuum former; woodwork and metalwork lathes; and a wide range of other hand tools. All pupils have constant access to computer facilities as well as an extensive design library.

You will hold an engineering qualification to at least ONC standard, have excellent machine operating and setting skills, preferably including CAD / CAM, and have gained experience in a similar role in an education or engineering organisation.
